After DMCA takedown and betrayal by a “friend” No Players Online – Is Back Online!

Belgian indie studio Beeswax Games has announced that No Players Online, its expanded now-commercial remake of the free 2019 cult-hit, is officially available again on Steam.

The game was almost ironically no longer “online” from the storefront after an unfounded DMCA claim alleged co-authorship and halted availability during a critical post-launch period.

For a game about exploring a broken, abandoned multiplayer server haunted by something that won’t stay buried, its sudden disappearance from Steam felt eerily on-brand, but for the developers, it was anything but fun and games.

The damage done to the game’s launch momentum was very real and it has had an immense financial impact.

Here is a shortened statement from the developers:

“We spent two and a half years of our lives and a ton of money making this game… It’s crazy to me that someone can just take down our game by filling out a simple form.”

“…any visibility on our game at this point would be crucial, so if you want to support a little indie studio please leave a review on Steam and share the game to the internet.”
